13 Days Exploring Uganda Wildlife Safari

Detailed Itinerary.

Day 1: Arrival

Arrival at Entebbe International Airport, after completion of customs and immigration formalities you will be met at the airport by LIFETIME AFRICA EXPEDITIONS representative, and introduction to your Safari driver guide. Drive to Kampala, upon arrival at your hotel you will be given a detailed briefing on your safari.
Check in at your Kampala hotel for your overnight.

Day 2: Drive from Kampala to Kibale National Park

Have breakfast at your hotel. Thereafter depart with your packed lunch and drive to Kibale National Park. Kibale National Park is home to a vast number of species of birds as the greatest variety and concentration of primates found anywhere in East Africa; 13 remarkable primate species, including L’Hoests and red colobus monkeys flourishing within the park. Many of the facilities are community based, thus providing the local population with the necessary revenue to ensure the long term protection of the area.
Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 3: Chimpanzee habituation in Kibale National Park

Have breakfast at your lodge. Early morning transfer to Kibale National Forest for registration. Kibale Forest is one of the biggest forests in Uganda which is a habitat for more than 1,000 Chimpanzee. Chimps habituation starts early in the morning, when they are waking up and you will follow them through their daily activity. Have packed lunch while tracking.
Dinner and Overnight at your lodge

Day 4: Chimps trekking in Kibale National Forest – PM transfer to Queen Elizabeth

Have breakfast at your lodge. Morning transfer to Kibale National Forest for registration.
Chimpanzee tracking starts at 8am and takes 3-4 hours depending on where they are located. Enjoy observing the closest creature to human. Have Lunch at your lodge.
Thereafter drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Queen Elizabeth is the second largest national park in Uganda. 95 species of mammal and 547 species of bird has been recorded. Altitude is as low as between 900m to 1,000m which makes it warmer than other areas.

Day 5: Morning Game drive in Ishasha and afternoon boat trip along Kazinga Channel

Breakfast at your lodge. Thereafter drive through the vast savannah and look for your favorite animals, with the help of an experienced park ranger. In this Savannah, this is where the famous tree climbing lions can be found.
Arrive in time for Lunch at the lodge.
In the afternoon, you will do a boat trip along Kazinga Channel which leads the flow from Lake George to Lake Edward which originates from Rwenzori. This channel has rich ecosystem, and is a habitat for Hippos, Crocodiles, and so many water birds like
Pelicans, Storks, Herons, Kingfishers, etc.
Dinner and overnight in Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 6: Second Game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park (Ishasha Area)

Breakfast at your lodge. Morning game drive to capture any missed animal while you were doing the first game drive.
Lunch at your lodge.
After lunch you will proceed with another game drive whereby you will have a chance to see the tree climbing lions.
Dinner and overnight at your lodge in Queen Elizabeth.

Day 7: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Breakfast at your lodge. Thereafter drive to Bwindi National Park, while exiting the Queen Elizabeth National Park, you will have a chance to see some of the animals that you might have missed in the previous two game drives.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is one of the smallest National Park in Uganda, it is famous for its mountain gorillas. It has a rich ecosystem, 95 mammal species and 345 bird species have been recorded. Arrive in time for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will pay a visit to the Batwa cultural community. You will learn more on how they live their daily lives.
Dinner and overnight at your lodge in Bwindi.

Day 8: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Early breakfast at your lodge. Early morning transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Registration where the park staff determines which group of gorillas you will visit the park staff discusses your fitness level and advises you of the trekking times and conditions to the various groups based upon their location in the park the previous evening. Once the trekkers are put into groups, each group’s Lead Guide briefs the trekkers of the trekking procedures as well as the “do’s and don’ts” while in the presence of gorillas. After the briefing, trekkers return to their respective vehicles for the drive up the mountain to the starting point.
Trekking can take from two to six or more hours if the gorillas move before the park rangers locate them the next morning. The guides stop frequently to allow trekkers a chance to rest and take photos along the way.
After Lunch, if time permits you will have a visit to the Batwa Community or do a village walk.
Dinner and overnight at your Bwindi Lodge.

Day 9: Second Gorilla trekking

Have early breakfast at the Lodge. Early morning transfer to the Bwindi National Park headquarters for a second gorilla trekking.
Registration at the Park Offices followed by a transfer to your Trail. Then re-enter the forest for the second gorilla trek visiting a different family from yesterdays. Have Lunch at the lodge.
Afternoon at leisure.
Dinner and overnight at your Bwindi Lodge.

Day 10: Bwindi – Lake Bunyonyi National Park

Have breakfast at your lodge. Thereafter drive to Lake Bunyonyi National Park, upon arrival you will check in at your lodge.
Lake Bunyonyi is in the South-western of Uganda where you will have a fascinating bird life with beautiful sceneries surrounding the second deepest lake in Africa.
After lunch you will have a full adventure of birdlife.
You can also choose to do a boat ride if time and weather permits.

Day 11: Lake Bunyonyi National Park – Lake Mburo National Park for a game drive

Breakfast at your lodge. Thereafter drive to Lake Mburo National Park arrive in time for lunch.
After lunch you will go for a game drive in Lake Mburo National Park which is a compact gem, located conveniently close to the highway that connects Kampala to the parks of Western Uganda. It is the smallest of Uganda’s savannah national parks and underlain by ancient Precambrian metamorphic rocks which date back more than 500 million years. It is home to 350 bird species as well as zebra, impala, eland, buffalo, oribi, Defassa waterbuck, leopard, hippo, hyena, topi and reedbuck.

Day 12: Second Game Drive in Lake Mburo National Park

Have breakfast at your lodge. Thereafter, you will go for a second game drive in Lake Mburo National Park to explore more and get to see more of its wildlife.
All meals will be at the lodge. Overnight at the lodge.

Day 13: Lake Mburo – Entebbe Airport

After an early breakfast, Depart with packed lunch OR you can choose to have lunch on the way.
Upon arrival in Entebbe, you will be transferred to the airport for your evening departure flight.
