DAY 1: ARRIVAL AT ENTEBBE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by our meet-and-greet lounge host who helps you through fast-track assistance with VISA and luggage collection. Please look for a white signboard with your name. After immigration and bag collection, you will then be handed over to our driver guide, who will transfer you to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 2: BIRDING EXCURSION TO MABAMBA SWAMP

After breakfast at 6:30 Am, you will be transferred to Mambamba Swamp for an all-day shoe bill trucking and sightseeing tour on a motorized traditional canoe as we search for the Shoebill wading through the overgrown papyrus. A site guide from the Mabamba area will join the team to advise on the possible location of the different special bird species in this area. Thereafter, you return to the hotel in Entebbe for dinner and overnight

DAY 3: TRANSFER TO SIPI FALLS VIA THE SOURCE OF THE NILE

Following breakfast at 6:00 Am, you will set off for a + 6-hour drive with a stopover in Jinja. visit the source of the longest river in Africa. You will take a boat ride to go to the actual point where the waters of river Nile spills from Lake Victoria and then run at a terrible speed flowing northwards to the Mediterranean Sea, here you have a great opportunity of tasting waters from two different largest and famous water sources in the world. You will then embark on your journey to Sipi Falls with en-route lunch in Mbale town. Upon arrival, you will check in at your lodge followed by an evening at leisure.

DAY 4: MORNING HIKE TO SIPI FALLS – TRANSFER TO PIAN UPE GAME RESERVE

After breakfast, you’ll head out for a waterfall hike. The waterfalls consist of three prominent layers of waterfalls where the longest drops with a height of 100m. You will enjoy the alluring view of the waterfall on the charming beauty of nature. After an early lunch at 12:00 Pm, you will check out of the lodge and drive approximately 4 hours to Pian Upe game reserve.

DAY 5: SUNRISE GAME DRIVE – TRANSFER TO MOROTO

Wake up early and grab a cup of coffee before heading out for a sunrise game drive to spot more wild game including the Roan antelope endemic to this place in Uganda. Other wild game to look out for include the black and backed and side-stripped jackals, Elands, hart beasts, Zebras, and cheetahs to mention but a few. After this amazing game drive, you return to the lodge for a proper breakfast. Thereafter, you will drive for about 5 hours to Moroto. Upon arrival, you will check in at the lodge followed by dinner and overnight.

This amazing cultural experiential tour offers you great opportunities to learn how to prepare traditional meals, sing and dance to traditional folklore, craft traditional Karimojong bead accessories, experience the ancient traditions of foreseers, listen to the wonderful stories of elders as well as undertake the traditional Karimojong games. After an early morning cup of coffee, you head out for a morning game drive in the savanna plains of Kidepo Valley and Naurus Valley. This will reward you with amazing sightings of Elephants, Elands, hart beasts, Zebras, cheetahs, lions, leopards, antelopes, oribis, Uganda kob ostriches, and numerous birding life. After this amazing game drive, you return to the lodge for a proper breakfast. After lunch, you will head back to the vast savanna plains for a sunset game drive.

Later after lunch, you will transfer to the briefing area for an afternoon rhino tracking experience. After this breathtaking experience, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 9: TRANSFER TO MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK – 30 Days Pearl Of Africa And Rwanda

Relaxed breakfast at 97h00, you will be picked up by the driver guide who will drive you for a 4hrs to Murchison Falls national park. Upon arrival, you will drive to the top of the falls for a tour around the falls. Sounds of the roaring thunder of the river Nile welcome you as you feel the force of the water under your feet as the half-a-kilometer-wide river narrows through just 7m wide and cascades down through a 45m drop. Murchison Falls National Park has 76 mammal species and 451 bird species. Reptiles like the Nile crocodile, hippo, and the rare semi-aquatic Sitatunga antelope. The big game mammals that you may have a glimpse at include; Lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, Rothschild’s giraffes, warthogs, giant forest hog, Uganda Kob, topi, and waterbuck to mention but a few.

DAY 10: GAME DRIVE AND LAUNCH CRUISE – OPTIONAL HIKE TO THE TOP OF THE FALLS

After a cup of coffee at 06h00, your guide will lead you to an early morning game drive. The morning drive will take you through different habitats offering you a great opportunity to watch some of Africa’s unspoiled Savana and the BIG 5 game including lions, elephants, buffaloes, and leopards. Other wildlife to see includes giraffes, Hartebeest, Bushbucks, Jackal, hyenas, oribis, Uganda kobs, and many others. After this rewarding game drive, you will return to the lodge for a late breakfast followed by lunch and a little relaxation. In the afternoon at 14h00, you will enjoy a 3hours boat ride sailing to the bottom of the falls along the river Nile. The Nile hosts large concentrations of Hippos and crocodiles as well as a number of bird species including the rare shoebill stork, Fish Eagle, African Skimmer, Grey-crowned Crane, Black-headed Gonolek, Goliath Heron, Green-winged, Long-toed Plover, Saddle-billed Stork. DAY 11: FULL DAY GAME DRIVE – NIGHT GAME DRIVE – 30 Days Pearl Of Africa And Rwanda

After a cup of coffee at 06h00, your guide will lead you to an early morning game drive. The morning drive will take you through different habitats offering you a great opportunity to watch some of Africa’s unspoiled Savana and the BIG 5 game including lions, elephants, buffaloes, and leopards. Other wildlife to see includes giraffes, Hartebeest, Bushbucks, Jackal, hyenas, oribis, Uganda kobs, and many others. After this rewarding game drive, you will return to the lodge for a late breakfast followed by lunch and afternoon relaxation whilst utilizing the lodge amenities including the swimming pool as you await the commencement of the incredible night game drive at around 17h00. The night game drive will occupy 2-4 hours depending on the client’s interests and our mission is to search and find the nocturnal animals which among others include hyenas, civets, leopards, bush babies, and several cats. DAY 12: TRANSFER TO KIBALE NATIONAL PARK – 30 Days Pearl Of Africa And Rwanda

Today after breakfast at 06h00, your guide will take you through a 7 hours scenic drive from Murchison falls national park to Kibale. Upon reaching Kibale forest, you will transfer to your lodge fully surrounded by the mystical calls of the monkeys followed by an evening at leisure whilst utilizing complementary activities offered by the lodge. Over a dozen primates inhabit this national park, and various types of monkeys grace the trees around your verandah. Close your eyes, and the soundtrack will provide an incredible appreciation for how remote you are.

DAY 13: CHIMPANZEE TREKKING – COMMUNITY WALK AT BIGODI WETLAND SANCTUARY

After a paradisiac breakfast at 06h30, you will transfer to the Kanyancu visitor center and report to the ranger station at 07h00 for a briefing followed by searching through the trees as you set off for chimpanzee trekking. After an interesting and memorable search for the chimpanzees in the forest, you are privileged to spend 1 hour with them taking photographs and videos, and return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch at 14h00, you will visit Bigodi wetland sanctuary a community-based conserved effort for a village walk to immerse you into the interesting cultures of the community.

DAY 14: QUEEN ELIZABETH PARK – AFTERNOON BOAT CRUISE ON KAZINGA CHANNEL

Following a relaxed breakfast at 09h00, you will board your Safari vehicle and drive for 4 hours to Queen Elizabeth national park. Upon arrival, you will check in to your lodge followed by lunch. After lunch at 15h00, you will enjoy the afternoon boat cruise along the Kazinga channel which will reveal a succession of giants. Elephant herds squirt water on the banks as large hippo pods roll on sandbanks, and crocodiles bathe in the sun. Some hippos escape the water to wander across the savannah and barge past a series of ungulates also in search of water. This astonishing extraordinary boat ride will make a gentle meditation from the exhilarating walk of the previous day in Kibale national park. Later that evening, you will have a community hike to the crater lakes in the community including the famous twin lakes. After this breathtaking activity, you will then be transferred to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Your guide will ensure to take you to every corner of the park to give you all the opportunity to site almost all the game in the park watch some of Africa’s unspoiled Savana and the BIG 5 game including lions, elephants, buffaloes, and leopards, giraffes, Hartebeest, Bushbucks, Jackal, hyena, oribis, Uganda kobs and many others. After this rewarding game drive in the main parkland, you will have lunch at Mweya safari lodge. After lunch, you will continue with the game drive as you head to the Ishasha sector to search for tree-climbing lions highlight of Queen Elizabeth national park. You will then return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

At 06h00, you will be transferred to Muhanga to indulge yourself in the local Rwandan life with families that are working to get those chores done for the day. You’ll start with digging the garden using local farming tools, feeding the cows, fetching water, and preparing your traditional lunch to mention but a few. Following lunch at 14h00, you’ll have a conversation (storytelling) with the family members, sing, and enjoy folk dances as a way of socializing in the traditional society. Transfer back to your hotel thereafter.

After breakfast on this exciting day amalgamating a series of cultural and historical heritage, your driver guide will pick you up and take you through a 2-hour scenic drive to Nyanza King’s palace museum which offers a detailed look into the Rwandan monarchical system and its abolition in early 1960s. Among the most amazing and impressive icons here are the enormous, doomed structures that are handcrafted entirely with traditional materials. This tour will be 2 hours long followed by lunch in Butare. Later in the afternoon, you will visit Huye Ethnographic Museum for an extensive look at ancient Rwanda’s history for 2 hours. Thereafter, you will proceed and drive for about 2 hours to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Upon arrival at the park, you will proceed to check in at your lodge followed by dinner and overnight.

After breakfast at 06h00, you will drive to the park office for a briefing before you undertake the canopy walk experience at Uwinka Park Reception.  You will hike to the suspending 60m-long bridge giving you a panoramic view of the forest and a glimpse of birds. The Canopy walk experience features unmatched marvelous scenery. Suspended above a ravine in the lush montane rainforest of Nyungwe National Park, the canopy walkway provides an exhilarating perspective on the ancient treetops and wildlife. Nyungwe forest is a hotbed of biodiversity. Along the hour’s walk to the canopy walkway from the Uwinka Reception Centre, visitors will see countless butterflies, orchids, and colorful birds, including many endemics to the region. After this exhilarating activity, you will return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will head back to the park reception for Colobus Monkey trekking some of which are endemic to this region including the Rwenzori Colobus Monkey. This hike will usher you into the world of the Grey-Cheeked Mangabeys, L’Hoest Monkeys, Owl-Faced Monkeys, Blue-Monkeys, and Mona Monkeys. Further into the forest and off the beaten track of the trails and accompanied by a guide you will run into a group of up to 200 Rwenzori Colubus Monkeys.

Later in the afternoon at 15h00, you will engage in 2 hours community experience at Gihaya Island. This visit will incorporate a 1-hour boat ride through lake Kivu to and from the island offering unique folk songs, music and cultural dances.

DAY 27: DIAN FOSSEY TOMB IN VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK – AFTERNOON AT LEISURE

Following breakfast at 06h30, you’ll transfer for a briefing prior to hiking to Dian Fossey’s tomb. The tomb of American primatologist Dian Fossey lies at Karisoke Research Centre within Volcanoes National Park where travelers pay regular tributes to this great conservationist who kick-started gorilla protection in the park. Fossey was killed in 1985 by poachers in Volcanoes National Park while carrying out her primary work of protecting mountain gorillas.

Mount Bisoke also known as “Visoke” is included among the active volcanoes found within the Virunga ranges. With a height of 12,175 ft, Bisoke lies within the borders of Rwanda in Volcanoes National Park and DR Congo in Virunga National Park. However, the summit and greater part of the mountain is situated in Rwanda.  The mountain was formed as a result of a rift that gradually divided sections of East Africa. It has two crater lakes – one at the very top and the other (Lake Ngezi) found along the way. Its last eruption was in 1957, giving it the biggest Crater Lake within the Virunga Mountain ranges. Hiking Mount Bisoke usually starts in the morning at the Kinigi reception center with a briefing from an assigned ranger. Requirements include a hiking permit, passport, and other documentation. After registration and briefing, hikers are then transferred from the reception center to the starting point. The journey to the head trail and starting point takes 40 minutes through a rough road. At this point you will be provided with hiking sticks from the park officials, as well as meeting the armed rangers to escort you up to the summit, hiring of porters to help with extra luggage is also done here. Porters will also help you navigate difficult sections of the trail by pulling you up or down depending on the terrain you encounter. After a successful hike to the summit, you will return to the starting point to meet up with your guide, who will you transfer you to the lodge for lunch. Your afternoon will be spent at leisure.

DAY 29: GOLDEN MONKEY TREK – GORILLA GUARDIANS’ VILLAGE

After breakfast at 06h30, transfer to Kinigi Park offices. At around 07h00 you will get a briefing about Golden Monkey tracking code of conduct before heading out to the golden monkey tracking trails. After this intimate experience, you will return to the lodge for lunch. Thereafter, you will transfer to the Gorilla Guardians’ village to experience Rwanda’s cultural preservation through key aspects including the importance of cows, how to milk a cow, local banana beer making, traditional dance, basket weaving class by the Rwandan women, herbal medicine experience to mention but a few.

DAY 30: TRANSFER TO KIGALI – DEPARTURE – 30 Days Pearl Of Africa And Rwanda

After breakfast at 08h00, you will take a 3-hour scenic drive to Kigali. Upon arrival at Kigali, you will have the opportunity to pick out some of Rwanda’s unique art pieces and blends including baskets, coffee, chilies, and many others at the selection of key Souvenir shops including Kimironko Market. You will then have a late lunch at Sundowner before transferring to the airport for your homebound flights.
