Jinja the Adrenaline Capital of East Africa/Adventure safaris is situated in southeastern Uganda just a few miles (approximately 54) away from the capital Kampala. Adjacent to the banks of the river Nile on the shores of Lake Victoria, Jinja is the largest and prime capital of the Busoga Kingdom. Jinja garnered its popularity following the evolution of a number of industries during the industrial revolution. It was referred to as the industrial town of Uganda up to the early 2000s because it harbored a number of industries. It is now famous for hosting the source of the longest river in the world “The River Nile”. The river Nile has greatly shaped the tourism of Jinja and the eastern region of Uganda at large.

Founded in the early 90s by the British as an administrative center for the Provincial Government Headquarters for the region. Source of the Nile

One of the most popular tourist attractions is the historic Source of the Nile which is believed to be the birthplace of the world’s longest river (mighty Nile) that boosts a number of Adventure safaris activities. White water rafting

This is a remarkable Adventure Safaris experience that starts with a briefing and training from a professional and experienced rafting guide. Rafters then depart with large rubber boats accommodating a maximum of eight people inclusive of a guide and followed by an emergency boat all throughout the trip monitoring your safety while enjoying the thrill and exhilaration of the Nile white waters. The river has five grades of the rapids so be prepared to hold your breath when plunging into the rapids. Besides the adrenaline rush and the rural scenery along the river side creates an exciting and amazing day. White-water rafting activity is open to people aged 16 and above.

Bungee jumping – Bungee Uganda

Bungee Jumping involves a person jumping from a great height while connected to a large elastic cord. This bespoke activity is hosted daily at a launching pad erected on a cliff on the Nile River banks at Jinja Nile resort situated approximately 4Km equivalent to an 11Minutes drive from Jinja city. No specific experience is required to undertake this adrenaline sport. However, one needs to be prepared psychologically as it involves heights. The elastic cord is tied either on the participants’ ankles making them dive with their face down or all around their entire body allowing them to float butterflies. Diving down from a tower set on the cliff at the river bank, floating in the air while rebounding softly until when you kiss the waters of the mighty River Nile is the most spectacular unimaginable adventure feeling combined with picturesque moments that will stick in your memories of a lifetime. One can choose a long-haul dive which involves touching the waters or a short one which goes halfway to the 44m cliff. Both Jumps are scary and yet thrilling. Although one is bound to append a signature against a document taking away liability from the company in case of any bad omen, be well assured that Bungee jumping is very safe and history has it that no accident has ever been recorded since the amazing sport was introduced past 10 years now. Bungee Uganda has placed a pool of safety procedures to ensure that the activity is as fun and as safe as possible. Participants must be 13 years old to undertake the Bungee jumping sport. One should note that He/she weighs 35Kgs to undertake the sport, the maximum weight is 260Kgs. This facilitates couples to take a romantic jump. Pregnant ladies are prohibited to engage in this sport.
